Optical fiber splicing is a highly technical and demanding work, with certain technical skills and rules. So how to improve the efficiency of fiber fusion and fast fiber fusion under the condition of ensuring these working rules and mentality?
一、Preparation before fiber fusion
Before fiber splicing, first prepare the necessary operating equipment, tools and materials such as stripping fiber clamp,cleaver,splicing machine, heat-shrinkable sleeve, alcohol cotton, etc., to check whether the welding electromechanical source is sufficient and all kinds of materials are complete.
二、Preparation of the end face
The preparation of optical fiber end face includes three steps: stripping, cleaning and cutting.
1. Stripping of optical fiber
Fiber stripping is the stripping of the coating layer, the operation should be in accordance with the smooth, stable, fast, master the skills.
"Flat", the requirement to hold fiber flat. Pinch the optical fiber between the thumb and index finger of the left hand to make it into a horizontal shape, with the exposed length of 5cm as the standard. The residual fiber naturally bends between the ring finger and pinkie to increase the strength and prevent slipping.
"Stable", the requirements of stripping fiber clamp to hold steady, do not allow shivering, shaking.
"Fast", the requirements of stripping to fast, stripping fiber forceps should be perpendicular to the fiber, on the direction of a certain Angle, and then use the forceps to gently stick the right hand fiber, followed by force, along the fiber axial flat out, the whole process should be in one go, as far as possible to peel completely, can not hesitate to stop.
2. Clean bare fiber
To clean the bare fiber, it is necessary to observe whether the coating layer of the stripped part of the fiber is completely stripped. If there is any residue, it should be stripped again. If there is a very small amount of coating layer that is not easy to peel off, use cotton ball to touch an appropriate amount of alcohol, while macerating, while gradually erase. When cleaning, dip cotton with a little alcohol, clamp the stripped optical fiber, wipe along the optical fiber axial, can not do reciprocating movement.
3、Naked fiber cutting
Cutting bare fiber is the most important step in the preparation of optical fiber end face. There are two kinds of cleavers: manual and electric. After the selection of the cleaver, first of all to clean the cleaver and adjust the position of the cutting knife, the placement of the cutting knife to smooth, cutting, action to natural smooth, not urgent not slow, avoid breaking fiber, bevel, burr and crack and other bad end face, ensure the quality of cutting. At the same time, beware of end face pollution.
Splicing optical fiber shall be equipped with appropriate welding equipment of battery capacity and precision according to the requirements of optical cable engineering, that is, splicing machine.
Operators should be familiar with the performance characteristics of the splicing machine used. Before welding, key parameters such as the optimal pre-welding main melting current and time and the amount of optical fiber input should be set on the welding machine according to the material and type of optical fiber.
In the process of welding, the v-shaped groove, electrode, objective lens and welding room of splicing machine should also be cleaned in time to observe whether there is any bubble, too fine, too coarse, virtual fusion, separation and other undesirable phenomena in the welding, pay attention to the tracking and monitoring results of OTDR test instrument, timely analyze the causes of the above-mentioned undesirable phenomena, and take corresponding improvement measures.
After welding, after ensuring the quality of optical fiber welding without problems, heat-shrinkable sleeve is loosened to protect the optical cable at the welding points, and properly placed and preserved in order.
